OVERVIEW & PURPOSE
On behalf of those of us already over in Germany, we congratulate you on your decision to take the plunge and come to the FDA. We have a great group of pilots and families over here, and are sure you will come to truly enjoy the base as much as we do. This site was built to answer the most commonly asked questions that may not be clear in the PFC. There are many websites dedicated to giving advice on living in Germany, please review them extensively (START button), they have a ton of useful information that is updated daily.
We are pilots and families helping pilots and families - this site is designed to be opinion free and as accurate as possible. When you need official information, please go to those resources (PFC, Dwellworks, German Gov't sites, US Gov't sites).
I GOT THE BID - WHAT'S NEXT?
First and foremost, if you are already qualified in the 757 or 767, we encourage you to bid some of the European lines. If not, take the jumpseat over to visit. What better way to familiarize yourself with the operation and its people than to come over and see for yourself? Talk to the pilots who are here and make a point to visit the different locations in the FDA. If you know generally where you would like to move, it helps immensely. Take advantage of that if you can.
COMPANY RESOURCES - PFC
There is an extensive amount of information under the EMEA tab of PFC. The process is pretty well ironed out at this point and many of your questions can be answered there. In preparation for your move, the info on PFC should be your GO-TO and OFFICIAL source of information.
OTHER RESOURCES
That being said, there are some questions that may come up that can not be answered by Team Memphis. Hopefully, you can find those answers on this site or with these additional resources:
Sponsorship team - People already living in Germany and who are volunteering their time to help you.
Facebook Groups - Opinions and facts, all mixed into one.
WhatsApp groups - Messaging/texting groups. Helpful, but unfortunately, newly added members will not see past chats.
